Yet the Obama State Department rejected the offer, stating that the chemicals "did not have the correct paperwork".

#5- Just three weeks earlier, the Obama Department of Interior selected BP Exploration & Production Inc. to be one of the three finalists selected for a Safety Award for Excellence, which honors companies for "outstanding safety and pollution prevention performance by the offshore oil and gas industry." The luncheon in which the awards were to be presented were subsequently cancelled so that the department could "devote all of its resources to the spill", however, given Obama's cozy relationship with BP could it have been the department didn't want to have to prevent the award to BP?

#6- 24,000 Americans are employed by BP and yet Obama has basically made it clear that he will not cease from his work until BP is put out of business. Is putting 24,000 Americans out of a jobs ever a good thing Mr. President? Especially in a recession?

#7- "STOP ALL DRILLING IN THE GULF IMMEDIATELY" Obama has spoken! But is that really a good thing... or even a feasible thing, considering the fact that we would be almost entirelyy "dependent upon foreign oil" then?

In fact a House panel recently heard testimony stating that America's economy, security and standard of living "significantly depend upon domestic oil and gas production."

#8- Just weeks before the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster, President Barack Obama stood in the Roosevelt Room of the White House poring over maps of oil drilling sites in the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska and elsewhere. Satisfied that he knew all he needed to know and confident that it was safe, he decided to propose expanded offshore drilling.

'This is not a decision that I've made lightly,' he said when he unveiled his proposal on March 31.

'Oil rigs today generally don't cause spills,' he added two days later. 'They are technologically very advanced. Even during Katrina, the spills didn't come from the oil rigs, they came from the refineries onshore.'
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2010/06/11/95755/obama-overlooked-key-points-in.html

#9-It wasn't on Bush's watch that the worst environmental disaster in the history of man on earth occurred... It was on his watch.

#10- Despite all of the tough "A- kicking" remarks he's made, a recent poll reported by MSM now reveals that the majority of Americans DISAPPROVE of his handling of this crisis. But that's not too surprising considering the fact the majority of Americans now DISAPPORVE of him in general.
There it is- nine things Obama won't tell you about BP.

Why Ron Paul Just Might Be Our Next President!

What chances does a Republican who opposed the war in Iraq have of winning the party's primary, let alone being elected President have? Until recently very little, however, with each new dollar the Obama administration frivolously spends and with each new failed government program the Democrats cram down the throats of ordinary Americans brings us one step closer to having a President who believes in eliminating the Department of Education altogether.

I must admit when I first "Googled Ron Paul" nearly four years ago I was completely appalled. Being the staunch "cookie cutter" conservative that I was at the time I immediately dismissed the man as being an out of touch "crazy".

However, as an unprovoked war in Iraq pushes toward its tenth costly year, while Osama Bin Laden stills runs through the deserts of Asia the genius of Ron Paul's "Unconstitutional War" speeches from 2002 are beginning to ring quite true.

It would be one thing if this "loony libertarian" were only right about the future of Iraq, however, considering he was warning America about a coming housing market crash as early as 1998 and he is the only person in Congress I believe has even read the Constitution has made me re-think this man altogether.

I checked the record- in the 2008 GOP Primary Ron Paul only received 36 votes in my county, a county with over 17,000 registered voters.

However, I'm seeing a perfect storm on the horizon that just might propel Congressman Paul straight down Pennsylvania Avenue to the big White House on the right.

What are the ingredients of this perfect libertarian storm?

#1- The Primary Vote

In 2007/08 both parties were holding presidential primaries- in 2011/12 only the GOP will be holding primaries. Which means in many states Democrat voters will be standing in line to choose the Republican candidate. I strongly believe that if the Congressman does in deed run many of these voters will be casting their ballots in his direction for one of two reasons: Many will be doing so participating in an "operation chaos" of their own- believing that someone with views as far flung as he will never stand a chance of being elected. Many other Democrats, however, will be voting for Paul sincerely. These are the wiser Democrats who realized that the HOPE Obama promised was a very false hope- with a war in Iraq still raging and an economy perhaps in deep depression they will be seeking a new candidate to put their hope in and Paul libertarian views just might appeal to these old school Democrat voters...

#2- "I Told You So"

Sure he sounded crazy when he said we'd be in Iraq for twenty years, or when he said the government is intentionally destroying the economy just so they could take control of it, or for that matter when he first declared Obama to be a full fledged socialist. However, as time has pressed forward, out of the 435 members of Congress only one of them can say "I told you so" about nearly everything they've ever said and in the turbulent year of 2012 voter's will be looking for that far more than they will be falling over themselves at seeing a "cool man who loves basketball".

#3- Tea Parties

Perhaps Ron Paul's greatest key to victory will be the Tea Parties. Just as the grassroots "Conservative Majority" is largely responsible for Reagan's Presidency, the Tea Party may just be Ron Paul's equivalent. The key for the Tea Party staying intact and alive for another two years hinges purely on whether or not Obama chooses to continue on his unconstitutional and socialistic crusade... A path I'm all but certain is coming.

#4- YouTube Ron Paul
Go ahead YouTube Ron Paul. Or better yet, first type "Barack Obama" into the YouTube search engine. What will you find? Beyonce's "All My Single Ladies" Spoof of Paul, Obama dancing with Ellen, and a nearly two hour video entitled "The Obama Deception".

Then type George W. Bush's name into the search engine. You'll find even more negativity.

Finally, type Ron Paul into the search engine. What will you find? Over seven pages of rich videos of Congressman Paul articulately quoting the Constitution to his fellow Congressmen, lecturing Bernanke on economics, or courageously defending the Constitution against opposition from both Obama and his own party. You will find in essence a man who has made many enemies in Washington, yet a man who has consistently preached a message of limited government and self responsibility... A message that the voters of 2012 will be longing for.

Will Ron Paul be elected President in 2012? I don't know, but what I do know is that he stands a far greater chance of being elected than he did in 2008.

Will a Ron Paul Presidency be good for America? I don't know, but what I do know is that I would certainly rather live under four years of a conservative libertarian who quotes the Constitution in nearly every speech he gives... For within its very quotation marks is an assurance that so long as we choose to keep them, We The People retain the most envied human rights in all of human history- the right to worship as we choose, the right say what we choose, the right to write what we choose, the right to meet with whom we choose and the right to reign over our government... The same government we choose each November.

At the core of these sacred sentences is the most basic human right- the right to choose. Not freedom to choose when it's okay to destroy life... No, the "freedom to choose" gauranteed by this paragraph is a far more pure freedom of choice- a freedom to choose how to live, where to live, and what to live for- It is at its most central element life itself.

I have heard that following the completion of the U. S. Constitution a woman met Ben Franklin on the street and asked him what type of government the delegates had created. His response- "A republic... If you can keep it."

And so began an epic journey in the lives of our forefathers and mothers as they strove to defend the Republic from its many enemies both from within and without over the next two centuries.

"Our world is very different today... yet those same [human rights] for which our forefathers fought are still at issue today- the belief that the right's of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God." -John F. Kennedy

As time continues on its relentless march forward the genious of those founding father's who purchased our liberties with their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor becomes more and more undeniable.

The First Amendment can be best describled as a table containing five legs. Sitting atop this table rests the entire constitution itself- all the other amendments, all the articles, in essence the country as we know it.

The first pillar we shall inspect today is the pillar granting us the right to or from any and all religions. As a Christian, and a Baptist in particular I am especially grateful for this phrase. Seeing that religion depends upon a relationship with an individual and his god [God], my relationship to the Savior is of no business to the state. Separation of Church & State is the most perverted clause of the entire consitution- it is not to protect the state from the church as much as it is to protect the church from the state.

"The constitutional freedom of religion [is] the most inalienable and sacred of all human rights."

-Thomas Jefferson

As we move into the twenty-first century our government grows closer and closer to having a national religion- The Religion of Hugging a Tree.

http://jeremytkfarley.blogspot.com/2010/04/religion-of-hugging-tree.html

It's Time You Learn The Constitution!

Last week I was elated as I watched the now infamous video clip of Democrat Congressman Phil Hare not only admit on camera that he didn't care whether or not the health care bill was constitutional but even go a step further in hanging himself as he removed any question that likely voters might have in regards to his knowledge of the founding document he swore to uphold. Being the staunch conservative that I am, I LoL'd... no, I ROFL'n as I watched the fumbling moron quote what I'm certain is the only line from the Declaration of Independence he knew, "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" as he attempted to defend the health care bill's constitutionality.

Last night I received yet another video email of a Congressman making a fool of himself in front of his constituents in regards to his Constitutional ignorance.

I watched as the libertarian-looking, young man appearing no older than thirty grilled the Congressman with question after question. Being one who has read the U.S. Constitution several times it made me feel good about myself as I correctly answered the tea partier to myself.

Before the clip was over the young man wearing a yellow t-shirt which simply read "Don't tread on me" had made it obvious to the nicely dressed crowd of surprised on lookers that their representative couldn't tell his Constitutional amendments from his articles... Much less name what the First Amendment forbids the government from doing.

Upon discovering the fact that not only was this Congressman a Republican, but one who was swept into office sixteen years ago during the Gingrich Revolution I soon came face to face with a very disturbing fact- ignorance of the United States Constitution is not a liberal Democrat problem- it's a problem across the board in Washington. No longer would I be able to hide behind the giant GOP elephant and lie to myself saying that it was only the Dem's who couldn't care less about the Constitution.

The sad and disturbing fact is that nine out of ten politicians in Washington couldn't have answered that question correctly... From the President on down.

How in the world have we reached this point in our history, where we are governed by men and women who have obviously never taken twenty minutes to read the very document they have sworn to uphold?

The answer to that is probably found in the even more disturbing reality that on a good day one would be lucky to find only one out of every fifty average citizens could answer those same questions correctly.

There is an epidemic of ignorance in this country and it is robbing us of our liberties. Why do you think slave owners forbade their slaves from reading? For the same reason that liberals and established Washington politicians are not requiring students to be familiar with the Constitution- because they know that knowledge is liberating. It's hard to suppress a people who understand their rights.

Therefore it is vital for those of us on our side- not Republicans, not conservatives... not even tea partiers... But lovers of freedom and keepers of the torches of liberty to know and be perfectly familiar with the Constitution of the United States of America.

How can we even dare to have the nerve to criticize someone else for not knowing a line from the Constitution when we are by large ignorant of the document altogether?
The following is a crash course lesson on the United States Constitution:

* In 1776 after years of being abused, taxed and having right after right stripped away from them, our founding fathers met in Philadelphia and drafted a document declaring their independence from England. This founding document is known as the Declaration of Independence- not to be confused with the US Constitution which is a completely separate document altogether.

* Upon declaring their independence, our founding fathers were forced to fight to defend their freedom and homeland from against the British crown for several years- This is known as the Revolutionary War.

* Shortly after winning the Revolutionary War it soon became apparent that the United States federal government was an extremely weak institution lacking sufficient powers to do very much at all. This government functioned under what we call "The Articles of Confederation"

* Realizing that the Articles of Confederation were no longer sustainable, Delegates from the various states met in 1787 to fix the various articles... What they ultimately produced was an entirely new document- The Constitution of the United States of America.

* The United States Constitution is the highest law of the land and the very document which authorizes our government to govern...

* The purpose of the Constitution was not to give the citizen his rights- our founders believed these rights were given by God [as explained in the Declaration of Independence], but rather to give the government its rights [the rights of the government are derived from "We the people..."]

* The first paragraph of the U.S. Constitution is what we refer to as the preamble-

The Preamble does not grant any particular authority to the federal government and it does not prohibit any particular authority. It establishes the fact that the federal government has no authority outside of what follows the preamble, as amended. "We the people", is one of the most-quoted sections of the Constitution. It was thought by the Federalists during this time that there was no need for a bill of rights as they thought that the preamble explained the people's rights. -Wikipedia

* The Constitution is then divided up into seven articles, which are subdivided into sections- each dealing with a specific role, right, and function of government.

* Article 1- deals with the rights, role, and function of the United States Congress

* Article 2- deals with the rights, role, and function of the President of the United States of America.

* Article 3- deals with the rights, role, and function of the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

* Article 4- deals with the rights of the states, who also derive all their power from "We the people..."

* Article 5- reveals the beauty of the American Constitution, in that it can be changed and made better- it authorizes such a way for it to be altered in accordance with law.

* Article 6- speaks concerning the powers and limits to the powers of the federal government.

* Article 7- Authorized how the Constitution was to be ratified.

* An Amendment to the Constitution is a change to the Constitution [authorized by Article 5] which voids what was previously written and is held in as high esteem as any other part of the document.

* Since the Constitution was first ratified in 1788 it has only been amended twenty-seven times

* The first ten amendments to the constitution are called "The Bill of Rights". The purpose of these amendments was to once again reassure "We the people..." of our rights. They were created in 1789 and were passed shortly following ratification of the Constitution.

* Altogether there are twenty-seven Constitutional Amendments.

This is only a very basic study of the Constitution... Please take the time and read it for yourself!

There Once Lived A Man...

There once lived a man who somehow managed to become the leader of a country he wasn't even born in. This man was the product of a bi-racial relationship, which despite being forsaken and walked out on by his father, this man eventually grew to detest the very race of his mother- Choosing instead to claim the race of the man who refused to raise him.

Before entering into politics this individual was never what one would call a success- he never owned his own business, never held a stable job, in fact he never really accomplished anything... Except of course for the time he wrote a couple of racially charged autobiographies, in which he blamed the race of his mother for his many struggles and disappointments.

Had it not been for the poor economy, most agree that this man would have never came to power of the nation he was not born in- yet all the stars of an economic recession seemed to align themselves perfectly as this amazing and elegant orator charmed the masses as they went to the polls and overwhelmingly selected him to be their next leader. His message was one of change, one of hope, one of peace. He blamed capitalism for the shape of his nation's bad economy. He incited class warfare, telling his enthusiastic followers that it was the large and wealthy corporations who were to blame for their low income... Promising to redistribute the wealth from the rich who were the oppressors and give it back to the poor and underprivileged. He even went so far as to pit one race against another.

His detractors called him a socialist, an extremist, and a liar... yet his followers dismissed them as being eccentric and misguided.

Within days of this man's election victory, he began to revolutionize the country. Following through on his promise to bring change he grew the government at never before seen rates in his country's history. He appointed former terrorists to serve on the staff of his administration.

Within two years his government owned a car company, had complete control of the nation's healthcare system, and even went as far as to change the nation's symbol into a circular logo he had used during the campaign.

Upon gaining control of the nation's leading auto manufacturer he began to wage a war against its domestic competitors until there was no more opposition left.

While he lobbied for his expansion of healthcare, his detractors who had warned of death panels and poor service were once again dismissed as being far-right wing hate mongers.

As time wore on this leader made more and more advances in gaining control over the media, until he eventually controlled all forms of communications.

Sadly for him, as time wore on this candidate only managed to deliver on one of his three campaign promises- the promise to change.

At the end it was his cult like followers, who had once worshipped him so dearly, who were left wishing for change the most, as they watched what was once one of the greatest empires of all time reduce to a weak and bankrupted nation.

What was this man's name?

Adolf Hitler.

Yes, it is true that history seems to repeat itself, but not to worry... Locks on all the cabinets in the kitchen, safety cribs to prevent the child from rolling onto the floor, those odd looking plastic things that go into each of the outlet covers, rear facing car seats for newborns, then front facing car seats for toddlers, then on to booster seats for four year olds, baby monitors, and I'm only getting started. The real deal comes once the child begins school!

Yes, it is very clear that ours is a culture obsessed with keeping our children safe- which is a very good thing. No parent wants their child to play in an electrical outlet or get injured in a car accident needlessly. Technology has indeed provided many useful tools in preventing tragedies and for that I'm eternally grateful.

However, as I take a step back for a moment, and view our culture in its proper context I can't help but fear that we just might be going overboard in bubble wrapping our society.

I'm beginning to fear that in an effort to shield our children from the typical pains that have accompanied childhood for over a millennium- scraped knee caps, bullies at school, and the heartaches that accompany rejection we have in turn raised a generation of boys who were never allowed to grow up and become men.

Evidence of this can be spotted just about everywhere, one only must open their eyes. For me it is most noticeable in my contemporaries- the generation of guys who have now found themselves in stall somewhere in their mid-twenties- while their fathers were at their age working to support their family, their greatest challenge is finding a better hiding place on Xbox's Modern Warfare.

Yes it is very evident in nearly every aspect of my generation's lives that mommy was just a little too good at her job. However, traces of this over parenting, bubble wrapping of one's child had its debut a generation earlier in the early sixties.

Men like my great grandfather, who were cradled in the Great Depression and turned into men by World War II are an all but extinct breed of men now days. The inauguration of Barack Obama has once again passed the "torch onto a new generation of Americans".

Unlike Clinton and Bush, who were both born in 1946, President Obama was born in the 1960's- the first generation to truly fall victim to the "don't drink from the garden hose" mentality.

What's the result? Agree with their politics or not both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush could take criticism from a reporter without appearing to take it personal. This President on the other hand cannot- just watch his famed healthcare summit with the Republicans from a few months back and you will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Why? One reason may have been that Clinton and Bush came from a generation that had to try out for the 3rd grade basketball team- Obama did not.

Another sad consequence of this new generation of torch carriers is the sense of entitlement so many feel. While Clinton and Bush had parents who had grown up in the midst of the Great Depression, Mr. Obama was afforded no such privilege being raised by a woman who was too young to remember World War II, much less the Great Depression.

I believe that President Obama truly believed that Iran and North Korea would stop hating us the moment he was elected President and picked up the phone to "chat with them." No other President in American history has been so foolish when it comes to international madmen... Why? Because ours is a generation that has no experience whatsoever in dealing with a bully. President's Clinton and Bush (and apparently Joe Biden!) all came from a generation where mom told you to achieve peace through strength with a bully, the President is the child of a generation of boys who's knight in shining armor was a female- each time they would find themselves in trouble she would ride in on her white horse and save the day. Consequently, they never experience the dangers of this world, neither the tastes of sweet victory in defense of one's life, liberty, and property. Which perfectly explains why he is so willing to destroy our nuclear weapons at a time when Iran is months away from completing theirs and when a nuclear armed North Korea is daily provoking their democratic neighbors to war.

Being neither black nor white this product of a failed marriage was nearly forty years old at the time his first daughter was born- he is the quant essential representative of my generation.

Although his political views represent only a tiny fraction of the country's general populace his life is a perfect representative of the typical American male of this day and age...

Not all men from his generation or mine weak- yet with each passing year and with each passing generation the pendulum is drifting further and further away from the tough, stern, and respected men like my great grandfather... God give us men.

The Religion of Hugging A Tree...

As most of us will be celebrating the resurrection of our Savior this weekend, it is important to note that there is a cancerous and dangerous religion spreading across our land at an alarming rate. Like all false religions, this one is a very damning and dangerous faith- yet this religion is to be feared even the more, for its ultimate goal is to strip every American of his most basic rights. The rights of life, liberty, and property are all despised by the followers of this faith.

This belief is the most intolerant of all faiths- those who choose to reject this religion are instantly ridiculed as being “stupid”, “selfish”, and even “racist”. It is a religion of hate. A hatred for progress, a hatred for capitalism, a hatred for America. At its very core this religion hates mankind- the only species created in the image of the creator.

Around the same time that traditional prayer was being taken out of the nation’s public schools this religion was creeping into nearly every classroom of every school. A generation following its triumphant entry onto the national scene, this religion is being taught on every college campus, promoted by nearly every nationally known business, and is being enforced by American governments on all levels.

To put it bluntly it is a cult- a cult that strips its followers from living and enjoying life, forcing them instead to participate in wild and eccentric rituals that no normal thinking person would ever dare dream of doing.

Most disturbingly, this is not a minor religion followed by a handful of nuts in some California desert- this is the fastest growing religion in the world. Chances are someone you know has converted to this faith, disturbingly, your children are being targeted by this cult in nearly every aspect of their lives- school and children's TV shows are the battlefield where this enemy religion wins most its converts.

What is this dangerous cult that has targeted our Constitutional rights and stolen the lives of so many of its followers? Hardly is it Islam's sharia law... It is the religion of hugging a tree and it is the official religion of the United States of America.

Like all religions it believes in sin- Not recycling, polluting, and driving an SUV are at the top of this religion's list.

Like all religions it offers a path to salvation- Using only one strand of toilet paper, driving a car smaller than a golf cart, and destroying the free market system are sure fire ways to keep from burning in a hell of global warming which is the ultimate judgment seat for those of us who reject this faith.

This religion even has prophets- Al Gore, is their chief.

It is a religion which denies science and requires its believers to live by faith.

It is a religion that reassures me that my religion is the correct religion:

"Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen" -Romans 1.25

While Men Slept...

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; "We have a vast ocean protecting us from Hitler and the Japaneese have sworn to us they only want peace." They reassured themselves each day- unaware that while the country slept the much smaller island nation of Japan was busy burning the midnight oil plotting an attack of epic proportions.

Then came the tragic morning of Sunday December 7, 1941. For the first time in decades the American people woke up to realize they could no longer dream- the world was in deed at war and the fate of their freedoms were at stake.

The following day scores of men lined the sidewalks of small towns and large cities from coast to coast, ready and willing to enlist in the battle. The resolute conviction they felt that Monday was more than enough to carry them through the four grueling years of heavy casualties and eventually on to absolute victory.

Exactly sixty years later our nation once again found itself fast asleep, when an even more emboldened enemy, who represented more than a country but a culture, attacked us in an unthinkable manner.

Just like our grandparents, Americans awoke from their sleep once more, answering the call to defend freedom in its hour of maximum peril- as a nation we stood wide awake on the morning of September 12, 2001.

Yet something was far different this time around. It took only a year or two for us to somehow forget the fear we felt that Tuesday morning, choosing rather to pull up the covers far over our eyes and drift back to sleep.

Our current President was elected under the campaign promise that he would close down the detention center where we interogated these same men who plotted September 11th, pull out of the Iraqi theatre- the same country that offered the 9/11 hijacker's family's $1million each, and wind down operations in Afghanistan- without ever capturing the man who designed the largest attack in American history...

Why would President Obama be so brazen to push a healthcare bill through Congress that 2/3 American's despise? What would ultimately possess drobes of Congressional Democrats to go against the will of their constituents and fall on the sword for their President... In the year of a mid-term election? Simple- they recognize that our's is a generation in love with sleep.

Sure we woke up last summer and begged our representatives to vote against this bill. Sure as a nation we were outraged, and still are, over the loads of garbage in this bill- but they realize that November 2010 is much longer away than we think. We still have the final four, American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, NBA Finals, college football opening day, the World Series and a new school year left before its time to vote... And they know that is more than enough time for a people like us, a people consumed with fantasy to fall back to sleep once more.

My fear is that we have became so consumed with amusement and fiction that we choose to dream rather than see life for what it really is- And we can only dream when we're sleeping. Therefore it is by choice that as a nation we roll over once more, push the snooze button of our emotions yet again, and fall back to slumber- all the while our enemies, foreign and domestic, are plotting our demise.

"But while men slept , his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way."

-Matthew 13.25

The Day That Reagan Died...

<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; For on that solemn day a grateful nation lost its last statesman, its last citizen-President, it's last common sense cowboy.
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; Changes that no American would even dare to dream of the day that Reagan died.

Changes like an American President not only possessing the authority to, but actually choosing to fire the CEO of General Motors, the federal government going on a killing spree of US banks, choosing which ones were "too big to fail" and which ones were so unimportant that they had no right to life. Now our government has attained absolute control over 1/6 of the American economy- through the latest healthcare overhaul. Not to mention making failure to purchase health insurance an offense punishable of a year in prison...

I realize that throughout all of the 21st century President Reagan was gripped by alzheimer's reducing the "Great Communicator" to a mere shell of a body that once was. Yet it seemed like the day that he died a part of the country died. His death is a symbollic reminder to us all that capitalism and personal liberty are all but dead in American today.

How long will socialism, "the great enemy" thrive in this nation? Have the administrations following Reagan taken us so far off the path of freedom that we will never again find our way?

Answers to those questions are not easy to contemplate, nor are they answerable at this present time, however, as we celebrate the Ressurection of our Savior this weekend, may we pray for the ressurection of the freedoms and liberties that once thrived in the years following the reign of Reagan.

A Republic... Do it, I dare you to!

What answer will you get? My guess is that nearly half the people you ask will gaze at you speechless, unaware or unconcerned that there even are various types of governments! The remaining fifty percent will most likely reply "a democracy".

Why? Because from a child well meaning school teachers, media figures and even politicians have all actively attempted to assure us that we not only live in a democracy but are in someway responsible for promoting the institution world wide.

Take the last Presidential election for instance, everywhere we'd go as a people there were signs begging us to "Get Out And VOTE!" The candidates, MTV, ACORN, churches, even the DMV were all fixated upon the idea of “letting your voice be heard”.

What was the result of such a massive push for voter turnout? The same result of every other Presidential election for the past century- an uneducated electorate emotionally choosing a candidate based exclusively upon his personality and their fickle emotions.

Only this time our nation was in the midst of a two front war, already headed in a socialistic direction and on the brink of a great recession- to put it mildly the stakes had never been as high.

That November afternoon I stood disgusted as I watched scores of well intentioned citizens vote for the very first time in their lives- knowing deep down that countless of them had no idea the Commander-In-Chief was also the Head of State. Well aware that the majority of the citizens who were standing in those record long lines were simply casting their ballot out of emotion without the slightest inkling of an understanding as to how a nation's economy or military is to be ran.

For the first time in my life I began to realize why our founding father's had such a strong distrust for the institution of democracy.

By the way... Our founding father's did have a strong distrust, if not hatred, for the institution of democracy!

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one
percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." -Thomas Jefferson

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." -Benjamin Franklin

"Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide." -John Adams

Our founding father's were men of genius who realized all too well the dangers of "mob rule", yet sentiments against full fledged democracy are universal trains of thought among great thinkers:

"The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the
average voter." -Winston Churchill

We are now witnessing a new era in American politics. An era in which a large number of the electorate are uninformed, unconcerned, and uneducated in regards to basic civics- the results of which are unthinkable.

Were our founders against voting? No, not at all! After all these men laid down their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor upon the altar of our dear Republic. Yet these were men who recognized our system would only work when those who participated in it were strongly rooted in their principles, their logic and understanding of the American system.

The only hope for America's political future rests in our ability to get past personalities and look deeper. Look deeper into the candidates soul, look deeper into our soul, and look deeper into the history and sold of America.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jeremytkfarley.blogspot.com/2010/03/two-idiot-explodes-sphere.html' title='A Republic... I asked sympathetically, knowing that it was purely by the grace of God that I was not in her situation.

Expecting to hear her somberly reply in agreement, I got the shock of my life when she gleefully answered- "Ha... Not at all! I'm looking forward to this place closing down!"

At first I thought that maybe I had asked too personal of a question and she was being sarcastic. However, as she continued speaking it soon became very apparent that she was being honest... Way too honest!

"I've already made up my mind, I'm not even going to look for a job. I'm gonna sleep in as late as I want to and draw unemployment for as long as I can." She proudly announced, before adding, "I can't wait to get a break. I sure do deserve it."

With my feet hurting from having worked all day (and still needing to go to my second job), I stood on the other side of the counter speechless. Every emotion one could possibly think of was running through my veins as I tried my very best to calm my shaky nerves and regather my composure.

Counting to ten, I mustered up enough strength to say something along the lines of "Well I'm very happy for you." Then just as the Secret Service whisks away the President in moments of peril, my wife quickly ushered me out of the building- fearing I was about to "go Reagan on her"!

As we walked across the parking lot I felt a sense of righteous indignation- "People like her will destroy this country way quicker than Al Qaeda could ever dream of, and they're going to do it by bleeding it to death." I mumbled to myself as we drove away.

"Why are people like that?" asked my wife in a feeble attempt to humor me.

It was a question that I didn't answer immediately, but rather I took my time and pondered it for quite a while. Finally, the answer became overwhelmingly obvious to me- We're living in a world without any consequences.

It begins when children are very young. "Stop... Don't do that... No... One... Two... Two and a half... Two and three-fifths..." are all regular phrases one hears while out in public.

Just a handful of years later, those same children find themselves in classrooms all across America where it doesn't take too long for so many to realize that the though the teachers can bark, their government has muzzled them from enforcing any such demands.

A decade later the sad course continues as those same children have been released into society as adults. And even now, they live in a world without consequences.

"Pregnant with my third child? No need to worry, I can 'get help.'"

"Sure I got angry and murdered twelve people, but I had a really bad father."

"Yeah, today's our last day in business, but I'm not too worried...
